The start-up has built a mobile-first app that is helping tutors to seamlessly digitize their occupation and business
Jaipur — the heritage “Pink City” and capital of Rajasthan, is also a leading hub of academics and education. Apart from being home to some of the finest and most reputed colleges, private and public universities, etc., the city also has a large number of coaching and training institutes offering classroom courses for various competitive exams including Engineering and Medical Entrance examinations. Such has been the popularity and economic impact of the tutoring and coaching industry in the city that earlier this year, the Rajasthan Government had proposed to set up a separate, ultra-modern and state-of-the-art “coaching hub” in Pratap Nagar in Jaipur.
However, ever since the Covid-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown, the physical coaching institutes have been forced to shut down and their business is suffering a lot till date. While the bigger coaching centers and educational institutes are already investing big bucks in shifting towards online education, the smaller institutes or individual home tutors are struggling constantly to stay afloat.
In the current times when online teaching-learning is obviously becoming the new norm for the education industry, the lack of one single platform to holistically digitize the coaching and tutoring business was felt immensely; this is exactly where ed-tech start-up Teachmint has come to the rescue with their free live tutoring mobile application.
The start-up has built a simplistic, mobile-first SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) platform for online teaching, which is enabling private home tutors and coaching centers in Jaipur to connect to the students and continue teaching effectively through the online medium. As of date, more than 7,000 teachers and students in Jaipur have registered and started using Teachmint’s mobile app.
Mr. Mihir Gupta, Co-Founder & CEO, Teachmint says, “We at Teachmint are committed to bring ease, convenience and efficiency to the online teaching-learning ecosystem. In view of this, our mobile-first platform provides teachers with the right digital tools so that they are able to run their classes seamlessly, and take their valuable knowledge and unique teaching styles to more and more students digitally, while also ensuring effective learning outcomes for students. Our mission is to help maximum tutors and coaching institutes in Jaipur move to the online teaching ecosystem with just a few clicks.”
Elaborating more on the features of their mobile app, Mihir Gupta adds, “Our mobile app offers a simple, user-friendly interface for teachers to record and livestream their video lectures, and at the same time consists of an array of tools to manage the tutoring business such as marking attendance and timetables, sharing study materials, conducting tests, doubt clearing and so on. In the post Coronavirus times, Teachmint wants to bridge the gaps and challenges that educators have been facing in terms of digitization off late. We aim to become a one-stop solution for teachers while facilitating the concept of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ by empowering tutors and educators become self-reliant, as they take full control within the online education space.”
Teachmint’s app has been designed and built in such a way that any student or teacher can get started in a few minute’s time, only if they have access to the Internet and a smartphone. Not only does the app deliver the two-way student-tutor connect that is extremely necessary for effective online learning, but also offers all-in-one workflow and administration tools for tutors in one place, in order to save their time and make lives hassle-free for them. In addition, with the in-built digital grading systems, reports, and analytics, etc. on Teachmint, teachers are further able to analyze and assess the progress of the students on a regular basis. Teachmint also provides a web version to teachers for screen sharing and other advanced options. Most importantly, Teachmint’s video conferencing has been custom-built for low data consumption and low internet speed usage in India.
