To talk about the benefits of sleep, Tata Sky Fitness presents a short series – Sleep Smart by the holistic fitness coach and author, Luke Coutinho. Luke talks about how good sleep can help in losing weight and building a strong immunity system. Luke explains how food is connected to sleep and suggests the following for quality sleep.

Balanced Diet

It is necessary to have a balanced diet that leads to improved workout stamina, better sleep and maintains stress levels. What you eat is responsible for the quality of sleep you get at night. No food will help you to get better sleep, but a balanced diet.

Eating Dinner early

Eating your dinner 3- 4 hours before bedtime will help you sleep well.  Even if you eat your dinner late, ensure it contains fewer carbohydrates. Including protein and fat as part of dinner will help you get a goodnight’s sleep. The human body is not equipped to break down late night heavy meals.

Eat natural Proteins

There is no need to feed on whey proteins. Intake of Natural protein such as Sattu (gram powder) can also help in protein deficiency. It is fundamental to keep it simple, listen to your body, and do not intake unnecessary protein.

Break Mid-night binge

Most important thing is to break your late-night binge eating habits, which might cause indigestion, weight gain and increase acid levels in your body. Instead, replace it with Chamoline Tea, Ginger Ajwain Tea and Cumin Tea before sleeping. Cumin is scientifically proven as a Natural Fat burner.

Replace Processed sugar with Jaggery

Late night dessert or sweets are harmful for your weights, Acidic level, guts and sleep too. What is more harmful is ultra-processed or refined sugar products. One can eat sweets that involve jaggery such as Chikki.
