AU Small Finance Bank, the largest small finance bank in the country, today announced the inauguration of Neer-Nidhi Nirmaan initiative, in collaboration with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jaipur. This is a pioneering initiative focused on waste-water management and its reuse for plantation, marking a significant step towards environmental sustainability and water conservation.
The event was graced by the Cabinet Minister at P.H.E.D. & Ground Water Department in Government of Rajasthan, Shri Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary, along with key representatives from AU Small Finance Bank, Mr. Saurabh Tambi, Executive Vice President, Marketing & CSR, and Mr. Arvind Purohit, National Business Head Govt. Business & Wholesale Deposits.
Neer-Nidhi Nirmaan is a step towards wastewater management at a smaller scale, a model
designed to be replicated at other government premises and household levels through community education and capacity building. The project, inaugurated during the Van Mahotsav week, involves the installation of a sewage treatment plant capable of recycling 2000-3000 litres of wastewater daily. Additionally, 776 plants have been planted in the PHED office premises, which will sustain due to the treated water.
At the launch of the campaign, the Cabinet Minister at P.H.E.D. & Ground Water Department in Government of Rajasthan, Shri Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary, said that it is necessary to save trees for protection of the environment. Where trees are saved, nature becomes safe. He said that under this campaign, we have set a target of planting one lakh saplings in a single day in all the offices, institutions and pump houses of the water supply department across the state. He said that due to excessive water exploitation, increasing demand for water and low recharge of ground water, many areas of Rajasthan have become dark zone. He said that the biggest crisis in the coming times will be that of water and we will have to make efforts to save water from today.
