Ovik Solar Bets Big on Open Access Solar Parks for SMEs- Planning for ₹1,200 Crore Investments to Transform Rajasthan’s Energy Landscape

With the Government promoting Open Access Solar to make India Atmanirbhar in Energy, Ovik Solar, a trailblazer in renewable energy, is set to redefine Rajasthan’s energy future by establishing eight state-of-the-art solar parks near Bikaner with a combined capacity of 380 MW. Backed by an investment of approximately ₹1,200 crore, these projects are poised to commence electricity production within just one year, marking a way for Rajasthan based SMEs to achieve significant savings upto 75% monthly.

Founded by IIT and IIM alumni – Kailash Rathi, Rohit Dangayach, Sujeet Beniwal and
Sandeep Jhawar, Ovik Solar is driving innovation in solar energy, leveraging Rajasthan’s
abundant solar radiation to create scalable solutions for industries and communities. These
solar parks aim to revolutionize the industrial energy model, enabling businesses to transition up to 80-90% of their energy consumption to solar power.

Rohit Dangayach, co-Founder of Ovik Solar, highlighted the transformative potential of these parks: “Solar rooftops could offset only a small fraction of energy costs for large industries. With Govt Policy of Open Access for Solar Parks, industries can adopt solar power on a much larger scale, improving financial efficiency while committing to environmental sustainability.”

Open Access concept is to generate electricity at large parks with large & cheaper lands say in Bikaner and offset electricity units anywhere in Rajasthan in any industrial areas for SMEs with over 15-20 Lakhs electricity bill per month.

Sandeep Jhawar, co-Founder (Technical) at Ovik Solar, emphasized the broader industry trend: “With professionals increasingly investing in renewable energy, including solar, green hydrogen, and battery storage, we are witnessing rapid growth in India’s clean energy capacity. This momentum will address energy shortages in underserved regions and help achieve the nation’s renewable energy goals.”

The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) has been pivotal in accelerating the adoption of solar energy, offering streamlined approvals for projects. With
Rajasthan’s exemplary model, other high solar radiation states are expected to follow suit,
propelling India toward energy self-sufficiency by 2030.

Ovik Solar’s initiative is a testament to how renewable energy can fuel economic growth
while reducing India’s carbon footprint. The company’s efforts are set to position Rajasthan
as India’s premier energy supplier, empowering industries and ensuring a sustainable energy future.
