IIT Delhi to Host Kisan Kumbh 2026 to Empower Women Farmers

In a significant move to reinforce the role of higher education in addressing real-world agricultural challenges, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is set to host the “Women-Preneur Led Kisan Kumbh 2026” on March 30-31. Organized by the Cowtrition Foundation under the aegis of the Centre for Rural Development and Technology (CRDT), the event aligns with the United Nations’ declaration of 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. This national platform aims to position women at the heart of agricultural innovation, policy discourse, and research exchange, contributing directly to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

The two-day conclave will transform the IIT Delhi campus into a vibrant multi-stakeholder learning environment. It is expected to draw over 3,000 delegates from diverse regions, including Uttarakhand, Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, and Assam, along with representation from more than 10 countries. The gathering will bring together women farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), researchers, agritech startups, and policymakers to foster collaborative innovation and peer learning. High-profile dignitaries, including Nitin Gadkari and over 50 domain specialists, are expected to participate in the proceedings.

A primary focus of the Kisan Kumbh 2026 is addressing the educational and technical gaps faced by women, who constitute nearly 75% of India’s agricultural workforce. The initiative seeks to transition women farmers from informal knowledge systems to empowered, informed decision-making roles through structured training. Key sessions will cover sustainable and climate-resilient practices, exposure to data-driven farming tools, and financial literacy. By embedding these learning opportunities, the event aims to provide women with the necessary access to institutional knowledge networks and modern agritech platforms.
