The valedictory ceremony of the 4th VGU Ranka Moot Court Competition–2025, organized at Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, concluded with legal dignity and enthusiasm on April 14. Over 50 reputed law institutions from across the country participated in this three-day national competition. The participants showcased their legal knowledge, research, and articulation skills on a complex moot problem related to criminal law.
The competition began on April 12 with the inauguration ceremony and preliminary rounds. Quarter-finals were conducted on April 13, followed by the semi-finals, finals, and the valedictory ceremony on April 14.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prashant Kumar Agrawal, former judge of the Rajasthan High Court, graced the valedictory ceremony as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he emphasized that moot court competitions are immensely beneficial for future legal professionals. He urged the participants to uphold impartiality, integrity, and a socially conscious mindset. He remarked that those in the legal field should prioritize societal welfare over monetary gains. He described such competitions as powerful platforms for developing students’ confidence, collaboration, cultural understanding, and practical skills.
The Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. Bharti, Dean, Faculty of Law, Manipal University, Jaipur, appreciated the competition and stated that such forums help develop critical thinking, logical reasoning, and professional advocacy skills in law students.
Justice J.K. Ranka (Retd.), the patron and model behind the competition, shared his blessings and experiences, guiding and motivating all participants and students present.
Mridul Rawat, Convener of the Moot Court Committee, Faculty of Law, presented a brief outline of the three-day competition.
Prof. N.D. Mathur, President of Vivekananda Global University, described the competition as an inspiring initiative towards providing practical orientation to legal education. He stated that such events familiarize students with the intricacies of the judicial process and inspire them to become competent legal professionals. Winners of the competition were:
Winning Team: Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur – awarded ₹30,000, a trophy, and certificates.
Runner-up Team: Amity University, Jaipur – awarded ₹15,000, a trophy, and certificates.

Best Speaker: Ms. Shailja Purohit (Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur)
Best Researcher: Ms. Riya (Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University)
Best Memorial: Aligarh Muslim University
Each of the above category winners received ₹5,000, trophies, and certificates. Additionally, all participants were awarded participation certificates.
On the occasion, Prof. P.P. Mitra, Dean, Faculty of Law, extended his gratitude to all judges, guests, participants, and the organizing committee, stating that such competitions contribute to the holistic development of students. He emphasized that moot court is an integral part of legal education that enhances understanding of the justice system.
Dr. Shilpa Rao Rastogi, Head of the Law Department, congratulated and extended best wishes to all participants, volunteers, faculty members, and collaborators involved in the event. She highly praised the dedication and efforts that led to the successful organization of the event.
