Rajasthan Strengthens Its Role as India’s Renewable Energy Backbone

The Solar & Storage Confex 2025 – Rajasthan was successfully held on 20th June at The Lalit Hotel, Jaipur. During this high-level industry gathering, Rajasthan once again reaffirmed its leadership in India’s renewable energy revolution. The event brought together policymakers, developers, and technology experts who discussed the state’s solar
ambitions and the growing importance of energy storage solutions. Over 300 participants
attended the event to gain insights and actively network with key stakeholders.

Discussions focused on Rajasthan’s critical role in achieving India’s target of 500 GW of renewable energy, with the state contributing 90 GW through solar and 25 GW through wind.

“Rajasthan is powering India’s 500 GW renewable energy target—90 GW through solar and
25 GW through wind—not just by generating clean power, but by building the critical backbone to transport it,”

– Senior Government Official – The state currently has 99,432 MVA of EHT substation capacity and over 44,638 km of transmission lines. Under Green Energy Corridor Phase I, Rajasthan has already achieved 100% of intra-state substation targets and 93% of transmission lines. Now, under Phase II, an additional 10,750 ckm of lines and 27,500 MVA of substation capacity is being added. With STNAMS-enabled real-time monitoring and predictive control, Rajasthan is silently shaping the transmission spine of India’s green energy future.

Rajasthan is rapidly progressing to become India’s largest solar power-generating state, driven by strong policy support, infrastructure readiness, and growing investor confidence.

Stakeholders emphasized the importance of regulatory stability, land accessibility, and financial innovation to accelerate both utility-scale and distributed solar development.

The role of energy storage was also a major focus during the discussions. Experts highlighted that large-scale deployment of battery storage systems is essential for grid stability, peak load management, and 24×7 renewable power availability. The need for regulatory support and innovative commercial models was widely acknowledged.

Shri Varun Gulati Ji, CEO, Solar Quarter, shared: “Rajasthan is not only generating solar energy at scale — it is shaping the very infrastructure that powers India’s clean energy movement. What we are witnessing here is not just growth, but leadership in action. With the right policy support and continued momentum, Rajasthan is well on its way to becoming the solar capital of India.”

As Rajasthan advances across policy, infrastructure, technology, and execution, it continues to be recognized as the backbone of India’s renewable energy future.
