Rajasthan, strategically located between the rapidly growing Northern & Western markets, with excellent road and rail connectivity, is poised for a new industrial resurgence, saidMr.SandipGhose, Managing Director & CEO, Birla Corporation Limited, here yesterday. He was speaking at a panel discussion at the Rajasthan Business Summit on “Unleashing Rajasthan’s Mineral Wealth: Pathways for Sustainable Mining, Stone and Cement Industries”. Opening up virgin territories, like Jaisalmer, for mining, the State has the opportunity to reimagine the mining sector by application of E-governance, ESG
norms, modern conservation and restoration practices.
Mr Ghose said the biggest improvement had been the shift towards a more transparent and
predictable mineral supply ecosystem. Cement players now have far more confidence in long-term resource security and growing focus on sustainability and scientific mining. “This
means, we can plan capacity expansions while staying aligned with our ESG commitment”,
he added. In short, Rajasthan minerals are no longer just a resource, but a reliable and sustainable foundation on which the cement industry can confidently build its future.
The panel included Mr. T Ravikanth, Principal Secretary, Mines & Petroleum, Government of
Rajasthan, Mr.IndraDev Narayan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd.,Mr.ChandreshBohra, Regional Controller of Mines and Mr.PankajKejriwal,
Executive Director, Star Cement Ltd.
