Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd., India’s trusted building materials company, inaugurated the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Training Programme for masons under its flagship CSR initiative NUVO Mason at the Chittor Cement Plant (CCP). The initiative aims to formally recognise and certify the skills of experienced masons while enhancing their technical capabilities through structured training and practical demonstrations.
NUVO Mason is a skill development initiative designed to empower construction workers by strengthening their masonry skills, improving employability and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. Under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework, the programme assesses existing skills of experienced masons and provides them with formal certification aligned with industry requirements.
A total of 75 existing masons will be covered under the programme through three batches. The first batch comprising 25 masons was inaugurated in the presence of officials from Chittor Cement Plant, Nuvoco Vistas, including representatives from the HR, Quality, Business Development and CSR teams. The programme received an encouraging response from the local community, with additional masons voluntarily registering for the training.
The programme has been designed to enhance the technical competency of practising masons through a combination of skill assessment, structured training and practical demonstrations. The curriculum focuses on modern construction techniques, quality standards, occupational health and safety practices and efficient material usage. Upon successful assessment, participants will receive an NSDC-recognised certification, enhancing their professional credibility and access to improved livelihood opportunities.
The initiative reflects Nuvoco’s continued commitment towards community empowerment through skill development and capacity building. By recognising existing skills and bridging identified skill gaps, NUVO Mason aims to support construction workers in improving their technical capabilities and creating better opportunities within the evolving construction sector.
NUVO Mason is a flagship skill development programme launched by Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd. in FY2022–23. The programme spans multiple states and has benefited youth, including women, by enhancing their skills, improving earning potential and supporting their integration into the mainstream construction ecosystem.
