Final UG semester, PG exams started in West Bengal Universities On Thursday, the authorities announced that their digital mode exams began in the last six months of their degree course with the authorities.
The examinations for 104 subjects under 152 colleges at Calcutta University’s undergraduate level began at 10 a.m. with applicants responding to papers from their home, Vice Chancellor Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee said. The two-hour tests began in three different time slots from 10 a.m., 12 noon and 2 p.m. and the students were asked the questions 15 minutes before the exam.
“The VC has said that the virtual mode exams are carried out properly, and no complaint has been received from university authorities, “said the VC. However, 2-3 students from universities reported that the time allotted was too short for answering the document, with a mark of 100 marks.
Examinations will go on until 8 October, said Professor VC of Subiresh Bhattacharya, North Bengal University Subiresh, says: ‘There have been a few stories about students not having the questions, but it has been found they typed false mail id’s and they got the answers soon after,’
On Tuesday, the education minister, Partha Chatterjee, asked the electrical utilities Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) and the West Bengal Government Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) to ensure that no disturbances were made of electricity during exams.
The UGC has demanded that the state universities finalize the final semester examinations by 30 September, but nodded to the West Bengal proposal to permit digital exams from 1 October. The Supreme Court, in a judging released last month, gave a precedent to the UGC to complete the proceedings by 30 September.
