Jodhpur, 9th October 2020: FMCG major Adani Wilmar; which sells a range of edible oils and food products under the brand name Fortune; has seized duplicate soyabean oil tins that were being labeled and sold as Fortune Soyabean Oil; in shops in the Siwanchi Gate area in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Based on specific information about duplicate soyabean oil being passed off as Fortune oil; a raid was conducted at Anand Traders and Rajesh Traders shops near Balaji Temple at Siwanchi Gate area in Jodhpur on Wednesday evening. The raids were conducted by Inspector Anil Yadav from Special Operations Group of Khanda Falsa police station, Siwanchi Gate Road, under the guidance of DCP Dharmendra Singh, along with an investigator of Adani Wilmar.
“Thirty-four 15 KG tins of soyabean oil, labeling them as Fortune Soyabean Oil, were seized during the raids on the two shops. Twenty-three tins were seized from Rajesh Traders, and 11 from Anand Traders. As many as 1099 caps were seized from Rajesh Traders and Anand Traders. The original Fortune caps are red in colour in KG Tins & contain high quality Fortune branding. A gun used for fixing the counterfeit caps & a duplicate stamp used for printing MRP & Batch Code etc., were also seized in the raids,” said a spokesperson from Adani Wilmar.
The police filed separate FIRs against Anand Rathi, the owner of Anand Traders, and Rajesh Bhudra, owner of Rajesh Traders, under provisions of IPC Act & Copyright Act.
The Police is attempting to source from where the counterfeit Tins & Stickers / Caps were being procured.
