Nuvoco Installs Street Lights in Rajasthan’s Village

Nuvoco’s CSR Initiative helps light up a village by Installing Solar Powered Street Lights

Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd., a leading building materials company in India installed 106 solar-powered street lights in Nimbol, Rajasthan under the aegis of its CSR pillar ‘Sanrachit Bharat’. This initiative helped in empowering the village where access to electricity is poor and intermittent and a boon for approximately 4500 villagers of Nimbol.

Guided by its vision of ‘Building a Safer, Smarter and Sustainable World’, the company is committed to create value for its stakeholders by providing sustainable and long-term alternative, which is less expensive, healthier and environmentally friendly than the traditional CFL or sodium vapour lights.

Additionally, through this CSR pillar the company has been able to improve the quality of life by developing community infrastructure (construction and repair of roads, installing street lights, refurbish the school buildings and build community centers along with boundary walls), provide safe drinking water (installing borewells and motor, pond distillation and rainwater harvesting), improve drainage systems and conduct tree plantations in communities and villages where they operate.

Speaking on this CSR initiative, Mr. Uma Suryam Bolla, Vice President – Nimbol Cement Plant said, “At Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd., we are strongly committed to the development of the communities in which we operate. We took up this initiative to address the need for illuminating public areas and ensure that villagers are not hindered in their normal activities just because of nightfall. We hope that these solar-powered street lights that are low in maintenance offer a long-term solution in lighting the public areas in the village. The project was highly appreciated by the villagers with the panchayat praising our effort.”
