Envisioning the vision for long term water security under Prime Minister’s Flagship program as Jal Jeevan Mission, Gramin Vikas Trust organized various programs conceptualizing the ‘Gram Swaraj’ on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti this year. Gamin Vikas Trust being a philanthropic arm of Krishak Bharati Cooperatives closely works for Agriculture upliftment and extensively with underserved communities for better Drinking water outreach and Water security of the vulnerable areas.
Being the Implementation support agency under National Jal Jeevan Mission, Gramin Vikas Trust also incorporated various set of activities on occasion of 2nd October as Gram Sabhas, Village water committees, Village Water & Sanitation committees meeting, Nukkad Nataks and Workshops on Solid Waste Management. During the interactive session community members were urged to actively participate in the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in their respective villages. Through the participatory activities like awareness generation campaign by students of primary school, interpersonal meeting with Anganwadi & ASHA workers, Community meeting with male and female members of the targeted locations, it was requested to use water judiciously and protect the water sources from waste & contamination.
On this occasion, The Chief Operating Officer of Gramin Vikas Trust Sri Shiv Shankar Singh addressed,” Seeing the pandemic the water conservation is a big concern, we all should work towards achieving more water saving goals.” As the potential implementation team leader, Mr, Shailesh Kotru, Lead of Business Development, Gramin Vikas Trust also expressed his feelings, by saying, “we are working towards achieving the common vision to empower women by increasing the women led participation in water security drive, that’s our pledge to give best to our society.” Lastly as a National Program Head, Ms. Tripti Khanna, told, “Its not easy to work towards the change of mind set for water consumption in society, but the way the entire team of Gramin Vikas Trust is committed toward quality program implementation of National Jal Jeevan Mission Program, is a matter of pride and
learning both. We look towards Quality hand holding and capacity building support to
underserved societies till the last mile.” On ground support Ms. Ritu Raj Rathore Implemented the program from Rajasthan.
47 villages of 16 districts namely Baghpat, Rajapur, Bhojpur, Gauttam Buddh Nagar, Hapur, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jhotwara, and many more from the states of Assam, Jammu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh participated in the event. Project coordinators and Team Leaders from each district ensured that people from all the age group were sensitized towards importance of saving water. Women participants were encouraged to be part of the National Jal Jeevan implementation activities to ensure proper operations & maintenance in the village water supply.
