According to Sunil J. Majithia, Hon. Secretary of MTMM & Bhavesh Goradia Convener
of Fair Committee, the object of the Fabric Fair is to bring back the lost glory of the Mumbai cloth markets especially ‘C’ ward. There are more then 10 small & large cloth markets along with 15,000 fabric traders in ‘C’ ward of Mumbai. Mumbai was the No.1 manufacturing & trading hub for fabrics two decades back, when the composite mills were in its full glory. After the sunset of composite mills era, Surat became No. 1 textile hub and Ahmedabad stood at No. 2. Mumbai has been pushed to No. 3 position as of now. However, Mumbai is still known as birth place of fashion and value added fabrics. In addition, India’s No. 1 power loom centre Bhiwandi, with 7 lakh looms is located at close proximity to Mumbai.
The B2B Fabric Fair will remain open free of cost (Registration is compulsory) to traders, garment manufacturers, retailers, fashion designers, agent houses, importers – exporters, brokers, tailors, fashion boutiques etc. The entry to the Fair will be with registration only.
General public will not be permitted to the Fair as this a B2B Fair and no retail will be
allowed. A large number of traders from outstation are expected to visit this exclusive
Fair. A footfall of around 10,000 visitors is expected during the two days of this mega
event. The Fabric Fair will start from 9.30 AM onwards and the visitors must carry
visiting card & vaccination certificate as per prevailing Govt. guidelines (No
Vaccination, No Entry).
