Vivekananda Global University, a NAAC A+ accredited university, organised its 6 th Convocation where 832 students were awarded their degrees in a glittering ceremony at the
University campus on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Lok Sabha speaker Shri Om Birla, who was the chief guest.
The convocation ceremony started with the academic procession in which the dignitaries were ushered to the accompaniment of the campus band into the venue of the function. The
dignitaries adorned the dais and after the customary invocation song and lighting of the lamp.
Addressing the gathering Shri Birla said that learning was a continuous process and that the
people learn throughout their lives. He added that the hard work and dedication of the teachers go a long way in shaping the future of the students. Shri Birla exhorted the students to become responsible citizens of the country. He lauded the role played by the Vivekanand Global University in maintaining high standards in education and helping in moulding the young graduands to the society.
He said that the students were going to start a new life after receiving education at the VGU
and it was indeed a great day for them. ‘’It is a great day for the teachers a well who guided them,’’ he added.
Shri Birla said that for the parents of the graduating students too it was a memorable day. The University honoured two very eminent and illustrious personalities-Padma Bhushan Prof. R.S.Paroda and Prof. Laxman Singh Rathore- for their distinguished contribution in the
field of agriculture and meteorology respectively by conferring the honorary degree (Honoris Causa) of Doctorate of Science on them.
In his address President of the University Prof (Dr) Vijay Vir Singh lauded the contribution of Prof Paroda and Prof Rathore and said that these distinguished, well known and respected personalities did not need any special introduction. Their names are enough to speak volumes about their achievements. He also hailed their contribution in modernizing and strengthening of the research system. Prof Paroda served Indian Council of Agricultural
Research (ICAR) as Director General. Prof. Rathore served as Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) and made significant contribution towards improving the
weather & climate forecasting including the development of Agro-meteorological Advisory
Service in India.
In total 830 students were awarded of the said degrees. Further, 63 meritorious students were awarded with 28 gold medals, 20 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals. The President
congratulated all the students who graduated and said that the students of 10 new programs who are the first batch of these programs to get degrees deserve special appreciation. He also informed that recently VGU has got sanction from UGC and AICTE to
offer full-fledged Programs of MBA, BBA, BCA, BA, and MA in Online mode and we are poised to start these programs from this month itself. Further to ensure smooth conduct of these programs, VGU has added to its faculty& staff by recruiting a large number of faculty
members in different disciplines including Professors of Practice along with senior administrative officers.
VGU is all set to ensure the effective implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020from the coming academic session (2023-24). Accordingly, the University is developing
framework in lines with Curriculum and Credit Framework of UGC to offer multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programmes/courses with multiple entry and exit option. Further, VGU
is also listed in Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) scheme to facilitate credit accumulation of students to avail the benefits of multiple entry and exit options as per UGC guidelines. To ensure the holistic development of our students, we are also encouraging the integration of
co-curricular and extra-curricular with curricular in all the disciplines. To ensure this, VGU has scheduled a Curriculum Conclave; “SARANSH” in March 2023.
This year placements have been satisfying. A mega placement drive was conducted in the campus in December in which the University was able to bring more than 200 opportunities
for our students and 600 students were placed in various companies such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech M, Adani, Ultratech, L&T, Daikin, Bosch, Genus Power, E&Y, Assa Abloy, Nagarro, HDFC, UPL, Tata Technologies. Our own alumni led
successful start-upslike Flitpay have also been one of the major recruiters.
VGU family is proud to have its alumnus all over the world working in government and corporate sector. In government, students are placed in various jobs including Indian Civil
Services, Indian Engineering Services, and Government of Rajasthan to name few. The alumni in corporate sector are representing VGU in Reliance, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe,
HP, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Bank of America, KPMG, Adani group of companies, Larsen & Turbo, Bosch, E&Y, HDFC, ICICI, Flipkart, Daikin, Leela, and Taj group to name few.
VGU vice-chairperson Dr K R Bagaria, in his address, thanked the dignitaries for gracing the
occasion and exhorted the students to work hard to achieve success in life. It was a memorable day for hundreds of graduands, who felt ecstatic on receiving their degrees. ‘’I have been waiting for this day….it’s like a dream come true for me,’’ said one of the graduands. Graduating students were all praise for the University infrastructure and were
of the opinion that the strong values inculcated here helped them in achieving their goals.
The parents of many of them also heaped praise on the University management for developing an eco-system that was in sync with the demands of the industry.
