Literacy India, a non-profit organisation and Teleperformance India, a leading provider of digital integrated business services, have collaborated to curate social transformation programs under Pathshala 2.0 and bring quality education and skill training to children, young adolescents, youth, and women in Manohar thana, in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. The Pathshala 2.0 project aims to provide holistic learning through digital technology-enabled SMART classrooms, skills training, education, and livelihood options to marginalized communities in the area that includes 20 villages. The project has positively impacted over 550 beneficiaries, with special focus on integrating girls who had dropped out of school due to early marriage and other issues.
The Pathshala 2.0 offers vocational skill training programs in tailoring, beauty and wellness, papad and achar making, mobile handset repairing, electrical training, stitching, tailoring, and two-wheeler driving. More than 10 youth have started earning a livelihood after completing the training, while 70% of women trained in skills have started home-based work. Additionally, 7 youth were trained in the Master tailoring program and started their own enterprise.
“In line with our commitment to being a Force of Good, Teleperformance India employees are active volunteers for engaging, coaching and mentoring students of Literacy India. We have helped establish infrastructure for the school, built recreation rooms and coached a group of Vidyapeeth students on modules related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) through our Digital Mentorship Program,” shares Jenifer Dwivedi, Communication &CSR lead, Teleperformance India.
The project has also conducted various activities such as Dancing Sessions, Cooking and Culinary skills, and Storytelling sessions, under the ‘Citizen of the World’ initiatives, which have been well-received by the community. One of the unique initiatives of the project is the “2nd Chance” Program, which is helping dropout girls gain confidence and acquire new skills through education and training. The program has successfully motivated girls to re-enroll in school and launch their own businesses. It has also organized 2-wheeler scooter and bike training to instill a sense of confidence in the girls and impress a sense of gender equality in the society.
“Citizen of the World (COTW) is Teleperformance’s charitable initiative that seeks to generate a positive impact on local communities, particularly vulnerable children, and their families. Teleperformance India aims to equip the children with basic education and the youth with recruitment readiness interventions through mentorship programs to enable them to get hired and sustain a livelihood,” says Vinod Mehta, Chief Human Resource Officer, Teleperformance India & APAC.
The project has transformed the education and employment scenario in the region, empowering and upskilling girls and unemployed youth in the rural ecosystem. It has created more inclusive and empowered communities, fostering sustainable development.
This Project will expand across 19 more locations in India by March 2024, supporting education for another 7,500 children. This showcases the company’s commitment to sharing their knowledge and expertise to help these students become skilled, employable and future-ready.
“Literacy India in past 26 years of operations has worked in the rural and semi-rural areas imparting education and skills to women, youth and children.
