Now, regular OPD services of Dr. Mandeep Singh Malhotra, the country’s few robot-assisted functional breast preservation surgeons, will be available at CK Birla Hospital for the treatment of breast cancer in Jaipur. In a press conference held at the hospital on Thursday, Dr. Mandeep gave information about the benefits of this new technology. Dr. Mandeep’s OPD will be held on the fourth Thursday of every month from 12 noon to 2 pm.

Dr. Mandeep told that this surgery is done with the help of our special robot Da Vinci. In robotic-assisted functional breast preservation surgery, a robot is inserted into the breast through the armpit and removes tissue to reconstruct the breast. The procedure preserves both the breast skin and the nipple. The breasts remain natural and retain full sensation after the surgery.
Many benefits of new technology – Robot-assisted functional breast preservation surgery has many benefits in treating breast cancer. Dr. Mandeep informed that earlier, in case of breast cancer, the entire breast had to be removed. This was like a big mental shock for a woman of any age. With the new technology, now with the help of robots, surgery is done through a small incision while preserving the breast and the cancer lump is removed. With this technique, the internal structure can be seen clearly in surgery and the size of the incisions is also very small. Also, by preserving the skin and nipple of the breast, breast sensation remains the same as before, and thus the breasts have the same feeling as before. This surgery is very easy with the help of robots.
26.6 percent of the total cases of cancer in women are of breast cancer – Dr. Anukriti Sood, Senior Breast and Endocrine Surgeon of CK Birla Hospital, said that breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women. About 26.6 percent of cancer cases in women are breast cancer, which is really a matter of concern. Every year, 13.7 percent of the total breast cancer patients die. (If the disease is not caught on time) In 2022, 192,020 new cases were reported. Breast cancer is the biggest cause of cancer deaths in women.
