Online Education Surges in Rajasthan, but Only 1 in 5 Learners Is a Woman: College Vidya Data

Rajasthan’s presence in India’s online education ecosystem has more than doubled in two years, rising from 5% in 2023 to 13% in 2025, according to College Vidya platform data. At this pace, roughly one in every eight online learners in the country is now from
the state.

The growth is being led by young adults already in or entering the workforce. More than half of all learners are in the 21–30 age group, with the largest segment between 21 and 25 years. Postgraduate enrollments at 52% are also slightly ahead of undergraduate enrollments at 48%, showing that online education is drawing not only first-time students but also those returning to study to improve career prospects.

At the same time, the data points to a serious gender gap. Women account for just 22% of online learners in Rajasthan, meaning only about one in five learners is a woman. Even as online education expands, participation remains sharply uneven.

The course mix shows that learners are making highly career-focused choices. At the undergraduate level, BCA accounts for 50% of enrollments and BBA for 31%. At the postgraduate level, MBA leads with 55.3%, followed by MCA at 20.6%. Together, these figures show a strong preference for technology and management programs linked directly to employment outcomes.

Jaipur accounts for 47% of online enrollments in Rajasthan, while Ajmer contributes 8% and Jodhpur, Udaipur and Alwar account for smaller but visible shares, suggesting that adoption is expanding beyond the capital into other cities as well.

Commenting on the trends, Rohit Gupta, COO of College Vidya, said, “The demand in Rajasthan for online education is clearly being shaped by employability and the need to study without stepping away from work. At the same time, the fact that women account for only 22% of learners shows that the growth is real, but it is not yet inclusive.”
