Hindustan Zinc, a Zinc Football Academy has successfully defended its title, emerging as champions of the Rajasthan League Senior Men’s A-division 2025-26 for the second consecutive year. This victory marks the academy’s third championship. The title was achieved with their youngest-ever winning squad, capping off a dominant season against seven of Rajasthan’s top-tier teams.
The Zawar-based Academy notched up 10 wins in 12 matches, scoring 39 goals and conceding only six throughout the season. The team registered a whopping 33-goal difference, showcasing tremendous dominating form in Rajasthan.
Football in Rajasthan once enjoyed a golden era, spearheaded by the legendary Magan Singh Rajvi, an Arjuna Awardee who captained the Indian national team in the early 1970s. Following his tenure, however, the state experienced a nearly four-decade drought of homegrown talent on the national stage. This changed with the emergence of the Zinc Football Academy.
As an AIFF-accredited 3-star institution, the academy revolutionised the local landscape through its commitment to holistic player development. By investing deeply in grassroots talent, they produced standout players like Mohammad Kaif, who broke the 40-year hiatus to become the first Rajasthan-bred player to represent India at any age level. Kaif has since solidified his legacy by securing multiple SAFF Cup titles with the team.
“I congratulate Zinc Football Academy on a fantastic season and am truly delighted to see the young players of this state-of-the-art Academy standing tall and competing fiercely against top teams from Rajasthan. Without a doubt, these talented youngsters represent the bright future of football in Rajasthan and across India. We wish them all the best.” commented Dilip Singh Shekhawat, Secretary, Rajasthan Football Association and Joint Secretary, Rajasthan Olympics Association.
