Princess Padmaja Kumari Parmar Unveils ‘Mewar Ki Mitti Ki Beti’ to Empower Women Across Rajasthan

Celebrating the strength, resilience and aspirations of Rajasthan’s women, Princess PadmajaKumariParmar unveiled ‘Mewar Ki Mitti Ki Beti’, a campaign aimed at empowering women and girls across the state by strengthening their health, independence and self-reliance.

The campaign was launched at the Jaipur curtain-raiser for the International Type 1 Diabetes Summit 2026, which will be held in Jodhpur from July 30 to August 1.

Explaining the idea behind the campaign, Padmaja Kumari Parmar said, “‘Mewar Ki Mitti ki Beti’ is an identity that I share with every woman of Rajasthan. It represents our connection with our roots, our values and the soil that has shaped us. This campaign celebrates the strength and resilience of Rajasthan’s women and aims to support them in becoming healthier, more confident, independent and self-reliant.”

Conceived as an initiative that resonates with every daughter of Rajasthan, ‘Mewar Ki Mitti ki Beti’ will bring together the social development programmes undertaken by The Friends of Mewar for women and children, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

Rooted in Rajasthan’s cultural identity, the campaign recognises women not merely as beneficiaries but as catalysts for change within their families and communities. It will focus on women’s health, preventive healthcare, hygiene, education, livelihood opportunities, awareness and access to essential services. Its larger objective will be to enable women to make informed choices and become healthier, socially empowered and economically independent.

Unveiling the campaign, Padmaja Kumari Parmar, Princess of Udaipur, Founder of The Friends of Mewar and Global Ambassador for Breakthrough T1D, said the initiative would give a unified identity to the organisation’s work for women and children across Rajasthan.

The Friends of Mewar has been working extensively on social and healthcare challenges affecting communities across the state. Type 1 Diabetes is one of its key focus areas—a serious lifelong autoimmune condition that remains widely misunderstood and is often diagnosed late because of limited awareness.

Against this backdrop, The Friends of Mewar, in collaboration with Breakthrough T1D and the William J. Clinton Foundation, will organise the International Type 1 Diabetes Summit 2026 in Jodhpur.

The summit will bring together leading endocrinologists, healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, patient advocates and public health experts from the United States, Australia and different parts of India to deliberate on the future of equitable Type 1 Diabetes care.

The announcement comes at a significant time for India’s healthcare landscape, with Type 1 Diabetes in children recently finding formal recognition within the country’s national health policy framework—a milestone expected to strengthen policy attention towards early diagnosis, affordable treatment and long-term patient care.

Speaking about the forthcoming summit, Padmaja said: “Today is not simply the announcement of another healthcare conference. It is an invitation to build a stronger future for every child and every family living with Type 1 Diabetes. We have reached an important point where awareness must translate into action, collaboration and meaningful policy outcomes. Through this summit, we hope to bring together global expertise and Indian leadership to create practical solutions that improve access to care and quality of life.”

Having lived with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of five, Padmaja brings more than four decades of lived experience to her advocacy for greater awareness, patient empowerment and equitable healthcare. Through The Friends of Mewar, she has led initiatives spanning preventive healthcare, community health, women’s empowerment and diabetes awareness, while building partnerships with leading healthcare institutions globally.

The three-day summit will serve as a dedicated platform for Type 1 Diabetes and will bring together international experts, clinicians, researchers, policymakers, government representatives and patient communities.

Key discussions will focus on early diagnosis, equitable access to insulin, diabetes technologies, continuous glucose monitoring, mental health support, patient-centric healthcare systems, digital innovation, integrated models of care and public health policy.

The deliberations are expected to culminate in a set of actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening India’s Type 1 Diabetes ecosystem and encouraging deeper collaboration among governments, healthcare institutions, academia, civil society organisations and patient advocacy groups.

Speaking about the larger vision behind the initiative, Dr. Kush M Parmar educated as a scientist at leading institutions like Princton university , Harvard university and MIT*

“Behind every diagnosis is a child, behind every child is a family, and behind every family is hope. Our responsibility is to ensure that no one living with Type 1 Diabetes feels unseen or unsupported. This summit is about bringing together people who can transform conversations into real change.”

Originally launched in Udaipur, the summit will now move to Pan India with a broader international vision. The recommendations emerging from this year’s discussions are expected to contribute meaningfully to ongoing policy conversations on improving affordable, comprehensive and equitable Type 1 Diabetes care across India.
