Kishangarh-Beawar Tollway Private Limited (KIB), a concession of ROADIS, the Madrid-headquartered multinational company dedicated to the investment, development, operation and management of global infrastructure assets, reaffirmed its commitment to safer roads, responsible road user behaviour and sustainable highway development through a week-long road safety campaign and tree plantation drive in the month of July.
Road safety continues to be a significant concern in Rajasthan, with more than 11,700 road fatalities recorded in 2024 alone. National Highways, despite accounting for only 3.4% of the state’s road network, were responsible for over 35% of all road accident deaths. Over-speeding remains one of the leading causes of fatal crashes, particularly on high-speed corridors, underscoring the critical need for sustained awareness, stricter enforcement, improved infrastructure, and behavioural change initiatives to enhance road safety across the state.
Recognising that road safety extends beyond infrastructure and requires sustained behavioural change, KIB designed the campaign to raise awareness about responsible road usage, encourage adherence to traffic rules and promote safer driving habits that can ultimately contribute to reducing road accidents and fatalities along the corridor. Road safety pledge, school workshops, emergency mock drills, awareness drives were organised in collaborations with the Regional Transport Office (RTO), local administration and traffic police.
Complementing its road safety initiatives with environmental stewardship, KIB also organised a large-scale plantation drive at Piplaj Toll Plaza, PIU Ajmer, under the nationwide initiatives “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, and “Hariyalo Rajasthan”. The programme witnessed the participation of the Shri Kamal Ram Meena, District Collector, Beawar, and Shri Ratan Singh, Superintendent of Police, Beawar, who joined KIB officials, employees and other stakeholders in the plantation activity.
As part of the initiative, 500 saplings were planted in identified locations within and around Piplaj Toll Plaza to enhance the green cover along the highway corridor and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment. The plantation drive reflects KIB’s commitment to integrating environmental conservation into day-to-day infrastructure operations while supporting biodiversity and sustainable development along the corridor.
