Pathshala 3.0 Brings Learning, Livelihood and Confidence to Rural Rajasthan

Across rural Rajasthan, a quiet yet powerful transformation is taking shape. Traditionally rooted in agriculture, daily wage work, and small businesses, many communities are now witnessing growing momentum around education and opportunity through Literacy India’s Pathshala 3.0 initiative.

For many families, continuing education beyond Class 5 or 8 meant travelling from nearby villages to the town, often with limited access to learning resources. Pathshala 3.0 is changing this by introducing tech-enabled education through interactive smart classrooms, STEM kits, coding modules, and self-learning tools. Children now learn by doing, asking questions, and exploring ideas making education engaging, joyful, and relevant. Attendance, curiosity, and classroom participation are steadily rising.

Due to financial constraints, societal challenges, and limited emphasis on girls’ education, Padma, Reena, Kajal, and Nirmala were unable to continue their schooling. Second Chance Schooling offered them a renewed opportunity opening pathways to education, employment, and dignified livelihoods within a restrictive social setting.

After completing Class 12 and enrolling in the first year of a BA programme, Ramlakhan felt a strong responsibility to support his family financially. Skill training in mobile repairing equipped him with employable skills and enabled him to become self-reliant.

Beyond academics, Pathshala 3.0 places a strong emphasis on girls’ education, technology-enabled learning for children in rural settings, and youth skilling. It also ensures access to education, shelter, and social dignity for nomadic children and communities that were previously isolated and marginalised. Young women who had dropped out are returning to complete Class 10 and 12 and enrolling in vocational courses, enabling many to start their own parlours, tailoring units, and small enterprises. Girls above 18 are also learning two-wheeler driving, a step that builds confidence, independence, and everyday mobility.

The programme further supports local youth with training in mobile repairing, electrical work, tailoring, beauty and wellness, and enterprise development helping them create sustainable livelihoods within their own communities.

In Piplodi village, Literacy India strengthened its presence by establishing a Satellite Centre ensuring that learning continued seamlessly after a building collapse that had traumatised children and taken away the joy of the classroom. Technology helped restore their happiness, engaged them in learning, and moved their mindset away from past distress. Today, 70 students’ study in a safe, tech-enabled environment that fosters focus, engagement, and confidence.

Speaking about the initiative, Captain Indraani Singh, Founder, Literacy India, said, “Education began with GyanTantra program in the villages of Jhalawar, sparking instant digital empowerment. It opened doors to second-chance schooling for girls who chose to complete their education. With learning came confidence, mobility, and the courage to dream of livelihoods. Education enlightens the mind, enabling progressive and informed decisions. That is what Pathshala 3.0 did—unlocking potential so communities grow stronger from within.”

Today, Pathshala 3.0 in Manohar Thana is impacting families across 30+ villages creating
confident learners, empowered girls, and capable youth for a brighter rural Rajasthan.
Through employee volunteering, mentorship, exposure visits, and active engagement with learners, Teleperformance collaborates with Literacy India to bridge the gap between education and real-world workplace expectations making learning aspirational and future ready.

Since its establishment in 1996, Literacy India has positively influenced the lives of 6.1 million children, youth, and women through education, skill development, and livelihood initiatives. Pathshala 3.0 carries this commitment forward, transforming community learning centres into vibrant spaces of opportunity, resilience, and hope strengthening families and shaping Rajasthan’s next generation.
