The 5th VGU–Ranka Moot Court Competition 2026 was grandly inaugurated today at Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur. Organized in collaboration with the Ranka Public Charitable Trust, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from law students across the country.
A total of *64 teams from various parts of India* are competing in this prestigious event, reflecting its scale and significance. The moot court competition aims to provide law students with practical exposure to courtroom proceedings while enhancing their skills in legal reasoning, research, and advocacy.
The Program commenced with the traditional *lamp lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana*. In the welcome address, *N. D. Mathur*, Vice Chancellor of the university, emphasized that moot court competitions play a vital role in imparting practical dimensions to legal education and significantly contribute to the holistic development of students.
Following this, *Lalit K. Pawar*, Chairman of the Board of Management, shared his views on the growing social relevance of legal education in contemporary times.
The keynote speaker, *J. K. Ranka*, Senior Advocate at the Rajasthan High Court, highlighted the importance of ethics and professional integrity in the judicial process.
Guest of Honour *Bharat Vyas*, Additional Solicitor General of India (Rajasthan High Court), remarked that in today’s competitive era, participation itself is a significant achievement. He stressed the importance of balancing modern legal principles with traditional Indian jurisprudence and *Mimansa*. He also noted that silence can often be more powerful than words, and knowing when to remain silent is a mark of maturity.
Chief Guest *Govind Mathur*, former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, stated that the *Indian Constitution is not merely a legal document but a guide to life*, and safeguarding constitutional values is the daily responsibility of every citizen.
The role of the Ranka Public Charitable Trust was also highlighted during the event, noting its continued efforts in organizing moot court competitions that provide students with real courtroom experience and help develop their legal acumen, research abilities, and confidence.
An interactive session with students was also conducted during the event.
During the program, *Prof. P. P. Mitra* presented a brief report on the competition, while *Mrs. Surbhi Ranka* delivered the vote of thanks. On this occasion, *Dr. Shilpa Rastogi* extended her best wishes to all participants and wished them success in their future endeavors.
The competition will continue over the coming days, providing a dynamic platform for law students to showcase their talent and advocacy skills.
