Dr. Dipak Limbachiya conducts world’s first declared hands-on training in endometriosis surgery

Eva Women’s Hospital, a leading healthcare provider and centre of excellence for women’s healthcare in Ahmedabad, recently performed 17 complex endometriosis surgeries in two days.

The surgeries were performed as part of a pioneering hands-on training workshop on endometriosis surgery by Dr. Dipak Limbachiya, a renowned advanced gynaec laparoscopic
and onco surgeon, and Founder of Eva Women’s Hospital. Held on September 25 and 26, this was the world’s first officially declared hands-on endometriosis training program.

The participating doctors engaged in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques and performed 17 highly complex surgeries in two days. These included four resection and
anastomosis procedures, one ureter repair in an endometriosis case, and 12 deep infiltrating endometriosis surgeries. The initiative of the workshop was Grade 4 endometriosis surgery with bowel resection and anastomosis, an intricate and critical
procedure pioneered by Dr. Dipak Limbachiya.

“All the patients have been discharged and are doing very well. We are thankful to each one of them for this opportunity to serve them and express gratitude to the participating
doctors for their service,” said Dr. Limbachiya.

The workshop featured 4 selected doctors, including one international participant and
participants from different parts of India. The workshop’s goal was to equip surgeons from
different places with the skills to operate on Endometriosis using advanced techniques.

“I believe this type of hands-on training can greatly enhance the expertise in managing a
challenging condition like endometriosis,” said Dr. Limbachiya.

Dr. Limbachiya has been conducting training sessions regularly since 2012 and has trained
more than 2,400 doctors, showcasing his commitment to mentorship and continuous professional development of fellow medical practitioners. The participants have been
trained in cutting-edge techniques, including the use of high-tech equipment and novel
methods of performing complex surgeries.

“Training the next generation of laparoscopic surgeons is a commitment I hold close to my
heart. It is immensely satisfying to watch fellow doctors learn about the newest advances in laparoscopy and improve their surgical skills, enabling them to provide enhanced care to
their patients. I am committed to sharing the expertise I have gained over the years with
fellow medical practitioners,” Dr. Limbachiya added.

The two-day workshop provided an opportunity for the participating doctors to gain valuable hands-on experience in the management of various grades of Endometriosis, with a focus on standardised surgical approaches. Live demonstrations were paired with informative lectures, ensuring that the learning experience was both practical and comprehensive.
